Amin Akhlaghi

MD, FAAP

Amin Akhlaghi, MD, FAAP, is Chief Medical and Innovation Officer and co-founder of Medernity, as well as co-inventor of their technology. He brings the perspective of a practicing pediatrician and lifelong tinkerer to the company’s clinical strategy and product development, with a particular interest in simple, intuitive technologies that work with the way children naturally behave, develop, and interact with the world.

Amin brings curiosity and a practical approach to solving problems, drawing connections across disciplines. His path to pediatrics has spanned biomedical and nutrition research, public policy, and science education, while his creative and academic interests help him see familiar challenges from fresh perspectives.

Those interests converged in infant feeding. Years of caring for newborns and listening to parents describe the challenges and complexities of feeding their infants, alongside experiences with his own son, compelled Amin to address a longstanding clinical concern. Drawing on fluid dynamics, materials science, physiology, and human development, he began asking how feeding technologies could better support families while working with an infant’s biology and behavior. That question continues to shape Medernity’s approach to intuitive technologies that support infant feeding and development.

Amin practices pediatrics at a federally qualified health center serving uninsured and underinsured families. He enjoys exploring new places, building things, and gardening with his wife and fellow Medernity co-founder, Nasila Salek, their son, and their dog.
